“And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled.” Colossians 1:21 NKJV
How can anyone say “I have given my life to Jesus Christ” yet their lifestyle and character is not altered or changed in anyway, some even gets worse by the day. The good question is, if you are run over by a heavyduty truck can your life (body) remain the same? Not ever. If so, why should you have encounter with the Almighty God and your life remain the same? Does the Bible not say old things pass away? It is either you are in the Lord or out of the Lord.

I will like to say this to everyone and myself: if we are unwilling or unyielding to allow the Word of God and the Power of the Holy Spirit to alter, change, reforms, renovates or translates our lives, it is very dangerous to preach the message in the Word of God to people; because satan knows his own, and he knows God’s own, “And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” Acts 19:15. When satan sees your hypocrisy, it is a double affliction for such a person. Also, The Word of God is sharper than double-edged sword, it can be cut you off if you are not standing firm in it, Hebrews 4:12. The Word of God is given first, to change our lives before we use it to teach others, 2Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
You cannot impart what you have not experienced, Joshua became a commander after God had commanded him,  “Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,”  Joshua 1:10.

The longer one stays in sin, the more one contributes to the strengthening of the kingdom of darkness and the advancement of the satanic agenda. Sin weakens and totally frustrates the purpose of God for a life. Sin is more dangerous than satan itself. The one who truly repents of sin disarms satan in his life. This is why there is joy (party) in heaven over one sinner that truly repents. Heaven is only truly sure of one’s loyalty to God and to His Christ when such a one parts with sin.
LIFE IN THE SPIRIT
From the time Adam and Eve erred, life has become a battle ground, which everyone, old and young shall all engaged in this battle. The unfortunate news is that there are some that shall be devoured, and the GoodNews is, there are some that cannot be devoured. Let us receive direction from the Scripture: the Book of Genesis 3:14b says, “and dust shall thou eat all the days of your life.” The question is, What could this dust be? Let us get the answer in Genesis 2:7, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” Genesis 2:7 NKJV
This means Man (Dust) + God (Breath of life, which is the Holy Spirit) = Living Being. A man without the Breathe of God remains in his nature, a food of satan. Little wonder was when man sinned, God reminded him the condition which he was before He was fashioned in the image and in the likeness of God, “For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” Genesis 3:19b NKJV
Now, through Mercy and Love of God, forgiveness and life was offered back to man through his faith in the work of redemption which Christ accomplished, Ephesians 2:8, the Lost Paradise was regained for those who believe. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV
After Christ’s resurrection, He told His Apostles that unless the gift of the Holy Spirit come upon them and take up residence inside of them, they are not different from the Pharisees (paraphrased). The Power which Adam lost in the Garden of Eden returns to us when Holy Spirit comes into us, Acts 1:8. Holy Spirit is to dwell, live, abide in us, He is not visiting us. Life in the Spirit is full-time not part-time, “And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.” John 1:32 NKJV
He said, we shall be endued with Power from on High to overcome self, you will no longer desire to live for self or live as a dust any more. You shall receive Power that will lift you up from the level of the dust and transports you into image of the Son of God, enable you to live life in the Spirit.
satan lives in carnality (dust), and the works of carnality are itemized in the Book of Galatia 5:19-21 “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Therefore, anyone who live in the flesh (carnality) is a candidate to be devour by the devil, and those who live in Spirit cannot be devoured. It is your choice. The Book of Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”
ROMANS 8:5-11 also tell us that there are only two ways to live life. Paul draws several contrasts between existence ruled by the flesh and the new life of the Spirit. To walk in the Spirit is to be “in step” with the Spirit. Life in the Spirit means to follow His lead and remain under His control. This is what Jesus meant when He said, “not my will but Your will.” He said He came to do the will of the Father. Life in the Spirit is life governed by the Spirit of God. This life is distinguished by the mind being set or focused on serving Christ. This individual’s desires are not selfishly controlled but are controlled by the will of Christ who lives in Him. If you are a believer, the Spirit is always in you for the purpose of lovingly leading you.
If a person is not in step with the Spirit of God, he or she will be controlled by the flesh. These kind of people live an existence which is dominated by sinful human nature whose focus and center of attention is self, whose life is lived to satisfy selfish desires.
These two mind sets are intent on diametrically opposite directions. The mind set dominated by the desires and activities of the sinful nature is on the way to death. The mind set dominated by the desires and activities of the will of God is on the way to life and life eternal. Each person is responsible for which mind set he pursues. The believer’s responsibility is to set his mind on living in submission to the indwelling Holy Spirit or to focus his mind on Christ.
I. THE TWO MIND SETS, 5-8.
II. THE INDWELLING SPIRIT, 9-10.
III. SPIRIT GIVEN LIFE, 11.
First in verses 5-8 Paul answers the question what does it mean to live according to the sinful nature or to live according to the Spirit? Verse 5 “For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.”
People live life with one of two mind sets. One type of person’s mind is set to seek those things he is most interested in, constantly talking about, engaged in and boasting about. Those who walk according to the flesh yield to the dictates of the flesh. They have their desires set on the things of the world, and the things this world has to offer.
Those who live according to the Spirit aspire for or have their minds set on what the Spirit desires, Colossians 3:1-2 admonishes us to set our minds where Christ is seated. To walk after the Spirit is to align or subject oneself to the Spirit. The man who walks after the Spirit cannot act independent of Him (Gal. 5:16). He acts in subjection to or in accordance with the Holy Spirit. He may have many failures but his basic orientation and uppermost concerns have to do with the things of the Spirit. The things of the Spirit are the things which the Spirit proposes and approves.
One’s mind or the concentration of one’s life either sides with one group or the other, it is impossible to be on both sides at once. You can not serve both God and mammon (or wealth, the worldly possessions).
Children of God who walk in the way of the Lord shall enjoy the Lord’s Peace because God is faithful to His promises. He said, I will not leave nor forsake you.
As we entered into the second phase of year 2016, let us aspire to walk in the Spirit and allow Holy Spirit to lead us on. Have a blessed month.
God bless you all!

Freely give!
