“…when they heard that the Lord had visited the children of Israel and that He had looked on their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.” Exodus 4:31 NKJV
The setting of this story was in the Land of Egypt, where God’s people lived in bondage. Remember Egypt has not changed, Egypt is a type of situation and circumstances of terror, slavery and torment which the enemy of our soul plans to put us into in life. No one among the Israelites dares raised their heads up or square their should high in the land of Egypt. They had been programmed and teleguided to believe in whatever the enemy had said to them. They were born into this harsh condition of slavery, and seemingly destined to live and died at the beck and call of their slave master in the name of Pharaoh and his representatives.
The work that the Egyptians forced on the Israelites was evil in motive and cruel in nature. The opening scene presents the land as filled with Israelites who had been fruitful and multiplied. This echoes God’s creational intent (Gen. 1:28; 9:1), as well as His promise to Abraham and his chosen descendant.”Gen.17:6; 35:11;47:27).
As a nation, they were destined to bless the world. Under a previous administration, the Israelites had royal permission to live in the land and to work it. But here the new king of Egypt sensed in their numbers a threat to his national security and thus decided to deal “shrewdly” with them (Exod. 1:10 ). We are not told whether or not the Israelites were a genuine threat. The emphasis falls on Pharaoh’s destructive fear that led him first to degrade their working environment and then to use infanticide to curb the growth of their population.
Work may be physically and mentally taxing, but that does not make it wrong. What made the situation in Egypt unbearable was not only the slavery but also its extreme harshness. The Egyptian masters worked the Israelites “ruthlessly” (befarekh , Exod. 1:13 , 14 ) and made their lives “bitter” (marar, Exod. 1:14 ) with “hard” (qasheh , in the sense of “cruel,” Exod. 1:14 ; 6:9 ) service. As a result, Israel languished in “misery” and “suffering” (Exod. 3:7 ) and a “broken spirit” (Exod. 6:9 ). Work, one of the chief purposes and joys of human existence (Gen. 1:27-31 ; 2:15 ), was turned into a misery by the harshness of oppression.
THE PLAN OF SATAN
The plan of satan in the life of a child of God is to put them under slavery, in shame, in a harsh condition, bitterness of soul and a broken spirit through life’s situations and challenges. Little wonder Apostle Paul said “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.” II Corinthians 4:8-10 NKJV
But in all these, they were not neglected nor forsaken, their God would not forget them. In all these, they were more than conqueror through Him who loved them (Exo.1:12). In all these, greater is He that lived inside of them than Pharaoh or anyone or anything that constitues itself as an impediment or as tormentors. In all these, prophecies and promises of love, hope of assurance of and deliverances kept coming to them. God did not stopped speaking Peace into the heart of His people. I am glad to announce to you this morning that God has eyes to see. It is my greatest honour, priviledge and delight to make this announcement to any suffering heart that God has ears to hear, and He has enablement and capabilities to act on your behalf and nothing can stop Him (Exodus 3:7). The Mighty Unstoppable! He sees you this morning, His ears are attentive to your heartfelt prayers, He ears your complaint this day, do not permit your heart to be in despair.
It was in this pathetic situation they were in Egypt when in far away land, inside a dessert, God was busy planning and making arrangements of their deliverance with an outlaw called Moses. And they heard that God has visited them.
Friends, no matter your situation or circumstances, no matter what traps hold you down, behind the scene God is working out the answer for you to be set free. “…Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.” John 5:17 NKJV
God is at work, He hasn’t stopped, as He did in the time past, He will do again. Ah! He said, “I am the Lord God, I change not, that is why you are not consumed by the enemy.” Malachi 3:6
WHAT GOD DOES IS NO SECRET
He commanded them to sound the trumpet to broadcasts His goodness in Zion. “Then she arose with her daughters-in-law that she might return from the country of Moab, for she had heard in the country of Moab that the Lord had visited His people by giving them bread.” Ruth 1:6 NKJV
“Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.” And this report about Him went throughout all Judea and all the surrounding region.” Luke 7:16-17 NKJV
These people heard something that brought a turn around into their lives, and they never remain the same anymore. They heard that the Lord has destroyed the work of satan, they heard that He has giving them victory, they heard that the horses and the riders that pursed them violently has God overthrown into the sea of defeat and forgetfulness. They heard that the Dagon has bowed before His glorious Ark of the Covenant. They heard that the Son of God has manifested. I heard Jesus saying, “I saw satan fall.” that is why it causes Joy in our heart and we sing thank You our Lord, thank You our Father, thank You our maker, thank You The Majesty, The Glorious One, the Eternity that swallowed all eternities, the One that sit on the Throne surrounded by the awesome foursome, and the twenty and four elders, who can dare You, we Lift You Higher, You that rules in the affairs of men.
Your Name is Jehovah Talk and do
Jehovah that faileth not.
My friends, Weeping may endure for a night, but Joy is coming with the morning. After Hannah prayed that prayer in Shiloh, she heard something in her spirit that caused her womb to receive child. Little wonder her testimony was insightful. The same voice will speak to you today, and you will have a turn around for good in your marriage, in your business, in your ministry, in your Job, and in your life.
I pray for everyone reading this post that your ears shall hear good news in Jesus’ Name. When you hear it, you will worship He who sit enthroned upon the circle of the earth in truth and in spirit.
